“Dance is a close reflection of our stories, the times we are in, societies we are part of, political movements we align with and persons we want to become. It is a constant process of betterment and reflection. To really dance is to inspire yourself to be your truest self, face your truest desires and happiness. I strongly believe this could be the most frightening, thrilling and liberating experience.”

Damini Gairola is a dancer of Indian Origin. She has danced with companies in India and Europe, working with choreographers like Ursina Tossi, Yolanda Morales, Anne Collod , Johnny Llyod, Barbara Schmidt-Rohr, Mayuri and Madhuri Upadhya, Jayachandran Palazhy. In June 2022, she presents her own work ‘Thank you for your visit’ in collaboration with Maitreyee Joshi, as a part of 'Limited Edition' at K3- Zentrum für Choreographie. She is interested and involved in works that represent research into queer-feminist narratives, inclusivity, spoken dances, de-colonising structures and pathways that lie beyond traditional aesthetics and understanding.

She holds a diploma in movement arts and mixed media from Attakkalari Centre of Movement Arts, Bangalore (India) and has also completed her studies in the Contemporary Dance School Hamburg, graduating in June 2021.

Damini started to work at Norrdans in the fall of 2022.
