Gorik Bellemans (he/him)

Gorik Bellemans is a dancer and emergent maker from Brussels, Belgium with a double major in Contemporary Dance and Choreography from Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Austria) as well as a certificate from ArtEZ University of the Arts (The Netherlands) in Dance Pedagogy. He has performed internationally in works by Lenio Kaklea, Arno Schuitemaker and Olivier Dubois in collaboration with BODHI Project.

In his own work, Gorik investigates questions of collectivism, entertainment and contemporaneity with an affinity for improvisational settings and queer sensibilities. With an eagerness and appetite for movement, Gorik dances through life in order to stay afloat and make sense of his surroundings.

Gorik has been a part of the Norrdans family since autumn 2025.

What moves you?
I’m tempted to respond ignorantly and say 'my body'. Because it is true, because I can’t specify what other things move me. Movement can be an escape and an indulgence at the same moment, it can be an explanation as well as an illegible mess. What moves me is the sense that moving, continuing, perseverance, ongoingness all seem to be the only way forward - the only way to unfold and stay present.

Who's your hero?
Heroes can be everywhere. Usually it’s people, or moments, that handle the world around them with integrity and care. People who act according to their morals, protest movements, my closest/queerest/longstanding friendships, an exchange of looks on the dance floor, a sentence overheard or read … So many instances can feel heroic to me, as long as I’m available to receive small wonders as well as grand gestures.
