Silas Manuel da Silva Roller (he/they)

Trying everything from parkour over athletics to capoeira in his youth, Silas eventually found his passion in ballet and contemporary dance. He is a German-Brazilian dancer who graduated from the contemporary dance program at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

During his studies, he had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers such as Heine Avdal & Yukiko Shinozaki, Fabrice Mazliah, and Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola. He also presented his own collaborative work at venues including the Roskilde Festival and the National Museum of Norway.

Throughout his education, Silas developed a distinct movement signature, characterized by a wide range of motion, athleticism, and honest expression.

Silas is an intern at Norrdans since the autumn of 2025.

What moves you?
– It moves me to see the fire in the eyes of dancing people and to feel that fire in myself. There is something very real, raw and contagious about witnessing it and experiencing it myself, no matter what form or style provokes it.

Who's your hero?
– My hero is Nina Simone. (Yes, that’s an honorary mention^^). She used her voice, literally, to speak up against racism, risking her career with that. She didn’t soften herself to make others comfortable. She was bold, brilliant, angry, spiritual, and unapologetically complex. She reminds me that being all of who you are is never too much.
